Yes. Please do.
Time off matters. The work gets better when people actually leave it for a while.
Under the Danish Holiday Act, you are entitled to 5 weeks (25 days) of paid holiday per year, accrued at 2.08 days per month. The holiday year runs from 1 September to 31 August, followed by a holiday-taking period until 31 December, giving you additional time to use your well-earned days.
We ask that holidays are planned well in advance. As a general rule, your main holiday (3-4 consecutive summer weeks) should be requested at least 3 months ahead, while other holiday should be requested at least 1 month in advance. Earlier is always appreciated.
Make® is closed during the last two weeks of July. In addition, you are expected to take the week before and/or after that period, so you get a proper summer break.
We also usually shut down between Christmas and New Year, depending on how the holidays fall that year.
In addition, Make® does not operate on New Year’s Day, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Ascension Day, Whit Monday, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
The Friday after Ascension Day is treated as mandatory leave and deducted from your holiday balance.
When the 24th and 31st of December fall on weekdays, those days are fully paid by Make® and are not deducted from your holiday balance.
If you are prevented from taking all 25 holiday days, you may request to transfer up to 5 days to the following holiday year. This must be agreed with Kristoffer or Morten before 31 December.
Holiday supplement (ferietillæg) is paid with the May and August salaries in accordance with the standard Danish holiday schedule.
Book your holiday in Productive and make sure your calendar reflects it clearly as well. Holiday is taken in whole days, not split into half days – it keeps things simple, clear and pleasantly un-fiddly.
Morten or Kristoffer will then approve it in coordination with project timing, team planning and client commitments.
Requests are usually approved quickly when planned in good time and aligned clearly with the team. Plan ahead, coordinate early and make sure projects, clients and colleagues are never left guessing.
And when you are away, go properly offline. That is sort of the point.
Even the office occasionally needs a break from all of us.
At Make, clarity is about saying what we mean, setting direction and making things understandable – for clients, for teams and for each other. When things make sense, people can focus. And when people can focus, great work happens.
Clarity creates the mental, creative and strategic space for:
It’s both operational and human.
When things are unclear, energy drains away – people hesitate, second-guess, and work around each other. Clarity does the opposite. It aligns expectations, reduces friction and makes it easier to move forward together.
