Handbook

Can common sense be a method?

Yes. One of the better ones.

At Make®, that often shows up as pragmatism: Being clear, practical and decisive when the situation calls for it without becoming rigid for the sake of it.

Sometimes we need to be square. A deadline is a deadline. A format is a format. A budget is a budget. A decision needs to be made, and the work needs to move forward.

But we try to keep the edges soft.

That means listening before deciding, adjusting when reality changes and remembering that people, projects and clients rarely fit perfectly into neat little boxes.

Pragmatism is not about lowering ambition. It is about making good judgment useful. Knowing when to hold the line, when to bend and when to choose the solution that actually works.

Firm where it matters. Flexible where it helps. Human throughout.

Clarity creates space

At Make, clarity is about saying what we mean, setting direction and making things understandable – for clients, for teams and for each other. When things make sense, people can focus. And when people can focus, great work happens.

Clarity creates the mental, creative and strategic space for:

  • better work
  • stronger collaboration
  • smarter decisions
  • faster progress

It’s both operational and human.

When things are unclear, energy drains away – people hesitate, second-guess, and work around each other.
Clarity does the opposite. It aligns expectations, reduces friction and makes it easier to move forward together.
